Job Description

US Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a Certified Welder to work on one of our projects in in Hampton, VA. Qualified candidate will perform all general welding services including but not limited to electric arc and acetylene welding work in the field, a large mechanical shop, or power plant. Work involves planning and supervising the fabrication and repairing of metal structures and equipment requiring the use of a variety of metals (aluminum, steel and cast etc.) and alloys employing electric arc and gas welding techniques. Must have considerable knowledge and experience in the use of advanced welding techniques, materials, equipment, metallurgical properties and structural principles. Working skill in the operation of a variety of welding tools and equipment, which may include MIG, TIG, electronic/carbon arc, oxyacetylene torch, plasma torch, wire, stick, and other welding equipment. CDL required. Shall be certified in accordance with AWS Bridge Welding Code D1.5.


Duties included:


  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand
  • Perform MIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs
  • Field install welds, including duct work, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting and other parts
  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions
  • Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations
  • Conserve resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture

High School Diploma or GED.


Virginia Driver’s License in good standing.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 years’ experience welding and fabrication

• Proficient skills in using Microsoft Office software products (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

• Strong written and oral communication skills

Other Requirements:

• 18 years of age or older

• Drug Screening • Background Check

• Required VDOT/Industry Training

Work Conditions: • 90-day probation period • May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments • Monitored performance with routine evaluation NOTE: This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Contract Management will determine when essential positions are required. Valid driver's license is required. DMV records check is required. Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.
